FLOWER/DECORATION POLICY
EFFECTIVE SEPTEMBER 1, 2024
FLORAL GROUNDS POLICY: Cemetery policies are conspicuously posted and readily visible to the public.
PARK HOURS: The grounds are open dawn to dusk daily. OVERNIGHT CAMPING IS PROHIBITED. OFFICE HOURS: The office is open from 10:00AM – 2:00PM Monday through Friday. The office is usually closed on the weekends and holidays.
GROUNDS AND LAWNS: Our cemetery grounds and lawns are intended to present a natural park setting. The overall natural beauty and surroundings are what we offer. We strive to provide a peaceful and quiet break for families to enjoy the memories of their loved ones. We cannot provide, nor do we have the resources to create an overly manicured single space or area. We treat all of our cemetery grounds as a unit, and not individually. Seasonal conditions affect the amount and type of work we are able to complete. Therefore, it is impossible to have scheduled mowing days. If you have questions, please inquire at the office.
FLOWERS: Natural cut flowers and greenery are permitted on cemetery property. Eureka Cemetery is not responsible for any flowers, plants, containers, or ornaments left at the gravesite. Private planting of flowers, shrubs, and trees is not permitted except in the designated common areas and with approval of management. Any such plantings become the property of the cemetery, and their subsequent care, maintenance, removal or replacement is accordingly up to the cemetery staff. Please be advised we have deer and elk that nibble on the flowers. Because of the natural setting of the grounds, artificial flowers are prohibited.
Glass vases/containers are strictly prohibited on cemetery grounds.
All flowers will be removed without notice when they become dirty, faded and unsightly. Please limit the number of flower arrangements to two (2) per gravesite.
Floral arrangements accompanying a casket or urn at the time of burial will be placed on the completed grave. Any potted plants, baskets, vases or arrangements on a gravesite after a service may be picked up by the family within the next 7 days. After 7 days, they will be removed by the cemetery employees. Holiday flowers and arrangements will be removed for mowing as necessary. Natural fresh cut flowers may be placed on graves at any time of the year. They will be removed when they become unsightly, or when it becomes necessary to facilitate cemetery operations such as mowing.
MISCELLANEOUS DECORATIONS: Decorations other than flowers detract from the natural beauty of the park. In addition, balloons, spinners, toys, stuffed animals, plates, ceramic objects, pictures, or other memorabilia are frequently stolen or damaged by weather, criminals, or cemetery equipment during routine maintenance. They also can be dangerous and possible deadly for the wildlife in the area. For these reasons, please do not place these objects on gravesites. Any such decorations will be removed when found. Regardless of the reason, any decoration that is unsightly, unduly large, or in poor taste will also be removed.
Permanent plantings, statues, vigil lights, glass, tin can containers, and breakable objects, and similar items are not permitted on the grounds. The Eureka Cemetery Association does not permit adornments that are considered inconsistent with the dignity of the cemetery, or considered hazardous to cemetery personnel. For example, items incorporating beads or wires may become entangled in mowers or other equipment and cause injury.
DRIVING & PARKING: Speed limit on the grounds is 5 miles per hour. Please observe the posted signs. Parking space is limited. Please park off the roads or to the right so that others can drive around your vehicle. Please do not park or drive on the grass or over gravesites. NO OVERNIGHT PARKING IS ALLOWED.
DOGS: Dogs are permitted on a leash only. We ask that you pick up after them on cemetery grounds. Please be responsible and respectful of the grounds and visitors.
CHILDREN: No small children are allowed unless attended by an adult.
NO SMOKING: Please do not smoke or vape on cemetery grounds. If you chew, please don’t spit on cemetery property.
Thank you for your respect and consideration of others.
This policy adopted by the ECA Board of Directors on July 8, 2024 and becomes effective September 1, 2024.
